Holograph journal of a tour of the eastern Mediterranean, from Constantinople to Naples. Accompanied by her husband and Joseph Dacre Carlyle, Nisbet traveled in armed British vessels in convoys from Constantinople to Athens, Malta, Sicily, and finally to Naples and Capri. Subjects include archaelogical and sightseeing trips on shore (among them a "careful examination" of what are now known as the Elgin Marbles); visits with British military and local aristocratic connections of her son-in-law,Lord Elgin; her concern for her daughter (Mary Nisbet Ferguson, then Lady Elgin), and Nisbet's borrowing of a monk's robe in Sicily to gain access to a cloister.
